Pass Your FDNY Exam — First Time

FDNY typically takes about six weeks to release exam results. FDNY allows a candidate two attempts at the F-89 exam before the candidate must restart the full certification process from the beginning.

The money-back guarantee applies only if the candidate fails the second attempt. A failed first attempt, on its own, does not trigger any refund.

To remain eligible for the guarantee, a candidate who fails the first attempt must schedule and complete a refresher Onsite Prep Course ($150 fee) before sitting for the second attempt. This is not optional: skipping the refresher forfeits guarantee eligibility, even if the candidate goes on to fail the second attempt.

We recommend scheduling the refresher no more than 30 days before the retest date, so the exam material stays fresh.

If the candidate fails the second attempt, having completed the required refresher, they are entitled to a full refund of both fees: the original $450 course fee and the $150 refresher fee.

Claim window: the candidate must submit a refund claim within 15 days of receiving their official FDNY result for the second attempt.

Proof of result: a screenshot of the official FDNY result notice is acceptable proof of a failing result.
